This study Txt Lang: Texting, textism use and literacy abilities in adolescents with and without specific language impairment talks a lot about what my essay is going to be on. That is that this study is about young people texting and how it affects them. That is how the language in text messaging is effecting how young people write and speak now a day. This study also fully explains text messaging in more formal terms so it is easier to explain. This source is completely different then all of my other sources so far. That is because it has to do with current language. But it shows that young adults are losing formal writing skills. This would make it much harder for them to understand previous languages such as Old English. This is when About A Mountain would come in handy because in this essay he shows how much we can lose the translation of a language in just few years. This could help my essay because it would give a great example to how it has happened and how text messaging would do this to young people even quicker. This source brings up the idea that “young people prefer texting over talking”. This will help with the argument that text messaging is hurting young people because it is also hurting their social skills.
