“Twitter in the Classroom” by John Calhoun

            In this article, posted by John Calhoun, he writes about how Twitter has made such a different in the ways teachers and students connect and learn from one another. Calhoun first talks about how Twitter is such a great and modernized way to communicate with others, before all of the technology we had to communicate with others in person, which was very limited. Now we can send “tweets” and get a response right away. He then writes about how teachers learn from other educators to improve their teaching styles, and how it is a great place for teachers to be apart of PLC, Professional Learning Communities, where they can all share ideas and help others with their teaching styles. Before educators could only receive support from their co-workers, but now they can make more of a connection with others out side of their work building. In Steven Anderson’s article, “The Twitter Toolbox For Educators”, also writes about PLC for teachers to come and share ideas and give advice to those who need advice. They both have the same idea that Twitter is a great way to get students involved with what the teacher is presenting. Both of these authors push the idea that Twitter is such a great new tool for the classroom. It brings a connection with the educator and the student. Students are more comfortable asking question by sending a “tweet” then asking one in class.  They both make connections with one another by expressing the same feelings toward Twitter.  I will apply Calhoun’s idea to my work to show that Twitter does help educators teach better, but also to show that they way we learn has changed.  By having so much support to this argument, allows me to fully explain my reason on wanting to write about how technology has changed the way we learn.
