This source argues both sides in which computers are bad and good for children. I believe and agree that computers are bad because young children need to physically develop along with the education in the school system. This essay is a scientific source from a data base and was published by the University of North Carolina in 2003. Some points that are being used are mostly all the highlighted information in this article. A few main important points are about young children’s self-esteem, the potential and unhealthy dangers of computers, learning, and education. Also many quotations from this source will be used in my paper because they have such an impact on the idea of children being affected negatively by computers. “A child with lopsided experiences is likely to end up with a lopsided brain.” This quote was said by Jane Healy and she gives great examples to work off of in the paragraph she wrote in this article. This source goes hand in hand with Carr’s article because Carr believes that Google is a bad source since children might surf the Internet and not read books. Books are fading out of the “norm” and so is reading deep into an article that could be useful; for example, abstracts in data bases. This article will be the main focus is my research paper because it has the most information on my topic.
